Description
edel+white Soft Woven Floss is a 4-strand, lightly waxed woven floss for sensitive gums and wider contacts. It stays compact under tension, expands with saliva, and is PFAS-free. Swiss-designed, made in Italy. Each dispenser holds 40 m (131 ft).
If you used discontinued Listerine / REACH Gentle Gum Care woven floss, this is the closest current match we stock: a thicker, cloth-like weave rather than a thin PTFE tape. It is not for braces, implants, bridges, or very tight unrestored contacts — those are better served by a thin tape or Edel+White Supersoft Bridge and Implant Floss.
Why this floss is different
- Four woven strands, not a single string. The multi-filament weave has more surface area and tiny spaces between filaments that trap plaque as you polish the contact.
- Thin under tension, thicker with saliva. Seat it with a gentle zig-zag, then let it expand so it fills wider spaces and recession triangles.
- Cushioned against the papilla. Soft woven construction is meant to feel less like a cutting wire than monofilament tape on tender gums.
- Mint-cinnamon flavor, lightly waxed. Enough glide to insert without a heavy wax coat.
- PFAS-free. No PTFE / “glide” fluoropolymer coating.
Manufacturer claim, not a KleenTeeth clinical study: Edel+White states the thicker woven structure removed up to 70% more plaque than traditional floss in an internal University of Genoa comparison (2004, tested against three common flosses).

Who this floss is for
- People with sensitive or easily irritated gums who find string floss too sharp
- Wider contacts, black triangles, and experienced daily flossers
- Anyone searching for a replacement after Listerine / REACH Gentle Gum Care woven floss was discontinued
- Aligner wearers cleaning between teeth after trays are removed
Choose something else if: contacts are very tight, you have braces, implants, or bridges, or the weave shreds on restorations. Use a thin waxed tape on those teeth, or Edel+White Supersoft Bridge and Implant Floss for pontics and implant fixtures.
How to use Edel+White Soft Woven Floss
- Unwind about 18 inches (45 cm). Wrap most of it around the middle finger of your non-dominant hand.
- Wrap the other end around the same finger of your dominant hand, leaving a short working length.
- Keep a light tension and guide the floss between the teeth with a side-to-side or zig-zag motion. Do not snap it through the contact.
- Let saliva expand the weave, then wrap it into a C-shape against one tooth.
- Polish up and down several strokes, including slightly under the gumline. Repeat on the neighboring tooth.
- Advance to a clean segment for the next contact. Do not forget the back of the last molars.
How it compares
| Floss | Feel | Best use | Skip if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edel+White Soft Woven Floss (this page) | Thicker 4-strand weave; expands with saliva | Sensitive gums, wider spaces, Listerine woven replacement | Braces, implants, very tight contacts |
| Edel+White Expanding Floss 25 m | Waxed expanding superfloss; slimmer on insertion | Mixed tight and wide contacts, recession, some bridges | You specifically want a cloth-like woven ribbon |
| GUM 2030 Expanding Floss | Expanding nylon, more yardage per pack | Shoppers who already like the GUM 2030 feel | You want the Edel+White cinnamon-mint weave |
| PTFE / “glide” tape | Very thin, slick, low friction | Tight contacts that shred woven floss | You want more texture and plaque-grabbing surface |
Frequently asked questions
Is this a replacement for Listerine Gentle Gum Care or REACH woven floss?
For most people who liked that thicker, cloth-like weave, yes. This is a 4-strand Italian woven floss with a mint-cinnamon flavor. It is not an identical formula, and it can still fray in very tight contacts or around sharp restorations.
Is it good for sensitive or bleeding gums?
That is the intended use. The woven, cushioned filaments are meant to polish the tooth without the thin cutting feel of monofilament string. If gums bleed, keep the motion gentle and give them a week of consistent use; ongoing bleeding still needs a dental exam.
Will it fit tight teeth?
Sometimes, if you keep it taut and ease it through. Official Edel+White guidance advises against it for very tight interdental spaces because the weave can fray. Use a thin waxed tape on those contacts and keep this spool for the wider ones.
Is it PFAS-free?
Yes. Edel+White states this woven floss is 100% free from PFAS substances. It is not a PTFE glide tape.
Can I use it with braces, implants, Invisalign, or bridges?
Do not use it with braces, implants, or bridges — the manufacturer warns that this weave can fray on those surfaces. After Invisalign or other aligners are removed, it is a reasonable choice for natural contacts and gaps. For fixtures and pontics, use Edel+White Supersoft Bridge and Implant Floss.
How long is the spool, and how long does it last?
40 meters, which is 131 feet (about 43.7 yards). At a typical 18-inch segment once a day, one dispenser lasts a little over two months for one person.
Does it shred?
It can on tight contacts, rough enamel, or the edges of crowns and fillings. That is a known limit of woven floss, not a defect in every spool. Switch to tape or a threader floss on those teeth and keep this one for open contacts.

Dental Floss
This is the best floss for me! Tape floss shreds trying to get it between my close together teeth, whereas I can easily and gently work the woven floss between without it shredding!
-
Great Floss
Finally!! Since Listerine quit making the woven floss, I have tried so many different flosses! This is what I have been looking for. It cleans well and is gentle.

It’s better than any other I’ve tried
This floss isn’t a perfect match for the discontinued reach woven floss but it’s better than any I’ve tried.

Woven floss.
I have always used Listerine fabric floss in the past but they stopped production. I find that this type of floss is much better at removing the small particles of food both between and under teeth and under my bridge work as well
